News regarding the more technical aspects of Nintendo’s new peripheral have begun to dribble out. According to a spec sheet dug up by Kotaku, the battery life for the Wii U tablet-style controller will be 3 to 5 hours. There’s even a possibility that number can decrease depending on certain types of usage and screen brightness levels. There is good news, however, as the spec also reveals that the tablet works while plugged into an AC adapter. Also, the good folks at Mad Catz are already hard at work on a full range of charging optioins. As always, “Take frequent breaks.”

That’s ridiculous. Those numbers are barely satisfactory for a handheld device. A console controller needs to last longer than 3-5 hours. This is something that should have been worked out long before now.

It’s ridiculous that this controller even exists. This is what motivated me to write that article.
